We are a group of like-minded residents, with no political agenda, who have come together after attending various recent Thornbury Town Council Town Development Committee meetings at which Planning Applications have been discussed. We fully support the building of much needed homes in the local area, particularly affordable homes for first time buyers, but the combination of existing development and new proposal in the Joint Spatial Plan could mean that Thornbury could double in size. We feel strongly that there is a lack of quality in the speculative proposals that land acquisition agents and developers are presenting as they don’t provide for the major infrastructure improvements that a large increase in the town’s population demands. The main objectives of TRAPPD are: 1. To create community awareness of the potential housing development in Thornbury, and the process for the community to have their say. 2. To provide a platform for the feedback of local views to those involved in the planning decisions. 3. To campaign for sufficient breathing space and visibility of the process to allow for more thorough local scrutiny. 4. To ensure that all future development is planned as a whole, so that the appropriate infrastructure serves the entire town, and not merely the individual developments. 5. To monitor Section 106 Agreements to ensure that all funding generated, including Community Infrastructure Levy, is allocated in an appropriate way by South Gloucestershire Council with full transparency and disclosure.
